You can get a free energy evaluation. We require them for low-performing buildings.

Free energy evaluations

Energy evaluations are required and free for buildings that:

  • Get an Energy Star score of 75 or less
  • Are on the list of low-performing buildings

The evaluations:

  • Analyze the building's performance
  • Identify opportunities to improve its overall energy efficiency
  • Can help reduce both energy costs and consumption
  • Are good for five years

Request an evaluation

  • Multifamily building owners can request a free energy evaluation report from the The Multifamily Building Efficiency (MFBE) program, a joint program of Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy .
  • After you get your report, email us a copy.
  • We'll be offering free evaluation reports for commercial building owners soon.

Don't request an evaluation if your building

  • Had an evaluation in the last five years
  • Has an Energy Star score of 75 or higher — or an Energy Use Intensity (EUI) rating in the City's bottom 75% 
  • Can show progress in reducing weather-normalized energy use intensity — goal is 20% between 2020 and 2025.
  • Earned a green building certification in the last three years, such as:
