Legislative Department organization

The Legislative Department reports to the City Council. Within the department, the City Clerk and City Auditor's offices each hold a variety of important roles. This department operates under the guidance of City leadership, including the City Council President and Vice President

The City Clerk's office is the official record keeping agency of the City government. The office provides support in several areas, including Council ward offices and Election and Voter Services.

The City Auditor's office works under the oversight of the Audit Committee. They provide key analysis and consulting services to improve City operations.

Legislative Department support

The role of City Council is defined in the City Charter. It has the power to make laws and policies for the city. It also has authority to keep an eye on how things are done by city government.

The Legislative Department was created to help support the City Council in this role. The Offices of City Clerk and City Auditor support City Council. They are not under the authority of the Mayor's Office and it's administration.
