Helping police and the community

Our team of trained, professional chaplains reflects the diverse cultures and faiths of our employees and community members.

Our role is to:

  • Strengthen police-community relationships within the precinct we serve
  • Provide spiritual care and support to police employees and community members

Our primary responsibilities are to:

  • Provide proactive care during daily activities, including:
    • Precinct roll call
    • Chaplain precinct time
    • Officer ride-alongs
    • Department meetings and ceremonies
    • Neighborhood meetings
    • Community events, celebrations and outreach activities 
  • Provide reactive care during time of crisis, including:
    • Death and critical injury scenes
    • Major crime scenes
    • Traumatized victim situations
    • Faith community calls
    • Personal care and support for MPD staff
    • Any situation where a chaplain’s calm and non-anxious presence would be helpful
