Our Special Operations Unit functions are:
We respond to incidents and potential threats involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive devices. We conduct sweeps before major sporting events. We also help other metro area law enforcement agencies.
We use specially trained canines and handlers is to make police work and the public safer.
We are officers with extensive training in crisis negotiating. We respond to scenes after an individual has created a public safety risk to those in the immediate area.
We (Special Weapons and Tactics) are a group of highly trained police officers who use special weapons and tactics to handle high risk situations. The team includes crisis negotiators, team leaders and tactical officers. All members train for 20 hours each month.
The Mobile Command truck has advanced mobile technology. It goes to critical incidents and complex scenes. Officers receive specialized training.
Strategic Information Center (SIC)
We coordinate our internal sharing of information about major crimes and investigations.
