The Patrol Unit functions include primary response to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, directed patrols, apprehending offenders, preventing and deterring crime, initially investigating and gathering evidence at crime scenes, and maintaining order within the community.
The Patrol Unit utilizes a variety of options to enhance the effectiveness of motor patrol and 911 response. These include canines, walking, bicycle, and motorized beats. The Patrol unit coordinates business and community needs with other areas of the department, working in sub-station assignments, and participating in community meetings and directed assignments.
The Patrol Bureau is led by Assistant Chief Michael Kjos.
