How to Reclaim or Check Property
or Evidence Held by Police

Property recovered by police officers or citizens and evidence held by the police are stored either at the Property and Evidence Unit's downtown Minneapolis office or the Property and Evidence warehouse in South Minneapolis.

Items such as cash, drugs, jewelry and guns are maintained in sophisticated vaults within City Hall. Clothing and small valueless items, such as photos and credit cards, are also maintained within the City Hall.

Property such as tools, tires, radios, snowmobiles, bicycles and lawnmowers are retained at the Property and Evidence warehouse facility.

Property and Evidence Unit
The Property and Evidence Unit's main objective is to maintain and insure the integrity of those items needed as evidence for the judicial process. It is also our desire to securely store all items and reunite owners with the property that is rightfully theirs.
