Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) at a Glance

Police Chief and Administration

The Chief of Police is Medaria Arradondo. The Administration team also is made up of the Assistant Chief Mike Kjos and Deputy Chief of Staff, Art Knight. The Investigations Bureau is lead by Deputy Chief Erick Fors. The Professional Standards Bureau is headed by Deputy Chief Henry Halvorson.

Five precincts comprise the Patrol Bureau which is overseen by Assistant Chief Mike Kjos.

Homeless & Vulnerable Population Initiative
This initiative serves as a link between the homeless and social service agencies which connect the homeless to valuable resources.

The strategic analysis team helps MPD direct resources in response to crime patterns and criminal activity throughout the city.

U-Visa Program
A U-Visa provides temporary for victims of crimes (U Nonimmigrant status certification) who assist in prosecution.

Office of Public Information
This office is responsible for providing information to the community.  The team manages the MPD's social media accounts and coordinates data practices requests made by journalists. Public Information officers also respond to major incidents to provide information to the general public.

Office of Professional Standards

The Office of Professional Standards serves the department in a variety of functions. It includes Administrative Services, Internal Affairs, Leadership and Organizational Development, Technology and Support Services such as the Business Technology Unit as well asProperty & Evidence and the Records Information Unit.
