Parking Violations

Owners of vehicles with 5 or more unpaid parking citations must present a letter from Hennepin County Violations Bureau stating that all citation fines have been paid before their vehicles can be released by the Impound Lot. If any citations on the owner's vehicle are in collections, the owner must pay those fines in person at the Minnesota Department of Revenue and then bring those receipts to Hennepin County Violations Bureau, which will then provide the owner with a letter stating that all fines have been paid

Police Holds

If the vehicle was involved in a crime it must be cleared of any police holds. Call (612) 673-5777 for details on clearing police holds.

Repossessions

An impounded vehicle may be released to a repossessor with an Affidavit of Repossession and payment of towing and storage charges. A vehicle cannot be held for a repossessor. If the registered owner comes in first and meets all requirements for release they will be allowed to take the vehicle.
