Community garden compost

The City offers no cost and low-cost compost to community gardens in Minneapolis.

Overview

Community gardens in Minneapolis may apply for compost.

Compost deliveries begin May 1 and end November 1. However, very cold or snowy weather can affect when the season starts or ends.

Compost and compost deliveries are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Priority goes to community gardens that have:

  • Never received compost
  • Poor soil quality
  • Start-up gardens

Qualifying community gardens may request one delivery of up to 10 cubic yards of compost. The amount of compost and the number of compost deliveries are limited, and not guaranteed.
