Homegrown Minneapolis Advisory Board
The Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council (HMFC) was created by 2009R-283 and amended by Resolution 2011R-445, 09/02/2011 and by Resolution 2015R-092, on 02/27/2015. Homegrown Minneapolis is a citywide initiative expanding our community’s ability to grow, process, distribute, eat and compost more healthy, sustainable, locally grown foods. The HMFC is striving for diverse and balanced representation and will make every effort to ensure that the concerns represented and addressed reflect the diverse viewpoints and interests of the Minneapolis community as a whole.
The purpose of the HMFC is to:

Number of Members
25: 15 community member appointments, 6 city representatives, one Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) staff representative, one community member appointed by MPRB, one Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) staff representative, one community member appointed by MPS
7 community members will be appointed by Mayor and 8 community members will be appointed by City Council, using the City's open appointment process; One community member will be appointed by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and one community member will be appointed by Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS). 8 remaining members include: one MPRB staff representative, one MPS staff representative, and one representative from each of the following City departments: the Minneapolis Health Department, Community Planning and Economic Development, City Coordinator-Sustainability, Regulatory Services, a Mayor’s representative, and a Council member or Council member representative
Term of Appointment
2 years - Members may serve up to 3 consecutive terms.
No, but preferred. Members must live or work in Minneapolis.
