Labor force

The labor force participation rate in Cleveland was 65 percent in 2000, 7 percent lower than the citywide rate. The rates in Minneapolis and Cleveland were closer to each other in 1980 and 1990.

The unemployment rate in Cleveland jumped from 3.5 percent in 1990 to almost 7 percent in 2000. It was lower than the citywide unemployment rate in 1980 and 1990 but surpassed it in 2000.
