Mayor Betsy Hodges
Welcome! Signs of spring are surely on the way in Minneapolis, as the ice melts and the snowbanks dwindle. As much as I welcome spring, warmer weather always means potholes. It’s been a tough winter, and I know the crews at Minneapolis Public Works are working round-the-clock to clear the streets and patch up potholes. I ask for your patience as our crews patch up the potholes and keep our City moving.
The great work done by city crews is an example of how we’re moving the dial on one of my main goals as mayor: continue to run the city well. Each day, I focus on how to make progress on my main goals, by asking how we’re moving the dial on growing the city, running it well and eliminating disparities.
My first few months as mayor have included a number of tragedies, including the New Year’s Day fire on Cedar Avenue and the Valentine’s Day fire in North Minneapolis. Both of these fires affected people, families, community organizations, and businesses. The lives lost will certainly never be forgotten. When tragedy strikes some of us, it strikes all of us. We continue to stand together as one Minneapolis. If you wish to help, please contact the Red Cross at (612) 871-7676 or at http://www.redcross.org/mn/minneapolis/news-events/news.
There have certainly been moments for celebration, in addition to progress on many important issues facing our city. I encourage you to check out this website or read my latest post on my blog, mayorhodges.com, to see more about what I’ve been up the past few months. You can also follow me on Facebook or Twitter, or sign up to receive email updates. If you have ideas, suggestions or requests, please submit them at the link provided on this page. My staff and I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for honoring me with the opportunity to serve as your mayor.
