The Licenses and Consumer Services Division regulates approximately 800 taxi vehicles and 1300 drivers in Minneapolis. Our goal is to provide an adequate supply of safe, affordable, and reliable taxi services to our residents and visitors. Our priorities include:

New Regulations effective July 2014
The Minneapolis City Council amended Chapter 341 (Taxicabs) and added Chapter 343 (Transporation Network Companies). Vehicle Inspections may be completed at Authorized Garages.
Taxi Driver's Licenses Expire June 30, 2014
Renewal applications for your 2015 license are still being accepted. Duplicate Billing Statements (gray sheets) are available at our office. All applications submitted after June 30th must add a 20% late fee.
New Policies Effective Immediately - September 2013
The city has new policies for Car to Car Transfers, Scheduling Vehicle Inspections, and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles.
Metro-wide System for Taxicab Numbers
Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Metropolitan Airports Commission have worked together to create a new numbering system for all taxis licensed in the metro area. All cabs licensed in 2013 in Minneapolis are listed in the Minneapolis Taxi Numbers List.
