Minneapolis Health Department
The Minneapolis Health Department provides a diverse range of services as it carries out its mission to improve the quality of life for all people in the city by protecting the environment, preventing disease and injury, promoting healthy behaviors, and creating a city that is a healthy place to live, work, and play.
Our jurisdiction includes Minneapolis residents, commuters, guests, and visitors.
The Health Department is one of 10 charter departments established in the City Charter in 1869.
In 2013, the department was one of six U.S. communities to receive the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize.
Current Health Commissioner Musicant has led the Health Department since her appointment in 2005.
