Federal activity in Minneapolis

We continue to closely track community reports of federal enforcement activity in our city. We will always stand with our immigrant and refugee communities.

Minneapolis is a welcoming city. We believe that when everyone feels like they belong, we all benefit.

Regardless of immigration status, we want you to feel:

City employees won't ask your status

Minneapolis has a separation ordinance. When you come to the City for help, the ordinance says that City employees cannot:

  • Ask about your citizenship or immigration status
  • Ask you for documents to prove your immigration status
  • Use any knowledge of your status to enforce immigration laws
