Minneapolis City Budget
Under the City Charter, the Mayor recommends a budget to the City Council and to the Board of Estimate and Taxation. Each board, commission, department, or office that the City funds must notify the Mayor and the Board of Estimate and Taxation of its estimated revenue and expenses and its budgetary needs. After a public hearing on the budget for and taxes payable in the following year, the City Council and each board must adopt a budget.
The budget process integrates information from the City's strategic goals, business planning process, Capital Long-range Improvement Committee (CLIC) process, and results management process.
