Neighborhood and Community Engagement Commission
The Neighborhood and Community Engagement Commission was created to provide overall direction to the next phase of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program and be primarily responsible for the review of neighborhood plans and recommended approval to the City Council; advise the Mayor and Council and City Departments on development and improvement of community participation policies, delivery of services and decision-making processes to systematize community input into city processes; advise on community issues and needs related to community participation; review, advise and make recommendations on the business plan and the budget for the City’s Neighborhood & Community Relations Department; as well as oversee programming details and funding for neighborhood revitalization work.
There are currently three vacancies available for 2-year terms beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30, 2021, and one vacancy for a 1-year term beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30, 2020.
Seat 2: Council appointee, beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30, 2020
Seat 3: Council appointee, beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30, 2021
Seat 5: Council appointee, beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30, 2021
Seat 7: Mayoral appointee, beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30, 2021
Note: Vacancies may have incumbents seeking re-appointment.
Members shall be residents of the City of Minneapolis and shall not hold a current election certificate.

Applications are forwarded from the City Clerk to the Mayor and City Council President for their consideration.
The board has 16 total members, five (5) appointed by the City Council, two (2) appointed by the Mayor, one (1) appointed by the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board* and eight (8) by Minneapolis neighborhood organizations*.Meetings will generally take place once a month. Attendance: any member who has more than three unexcused absences in any calendar year will be replaced. Members may not serve more than two consecutive terms. There is no compensation for members however re-imbursement for parking during meetings will be available. The meeting locations will be accessible to persons with disabilities.
