Next steps
Cleanup: This summer City crews are cleaning up and stabilizing the building. This includes replacing doors and windows, interior electrical and HVAC repair and removing the temporary fencing.
Design and renovation: In 2024, we're engaging the community to help select a community use for part of the building. If the City Council approves the democracy center proposal, the City will move forward with design and renovation.
Open house: Another open house will be held in September. We’ll report back on what we’ve learned about the democracy center concept and ideas for the community use portion of the building.
After the open house, we’ll present the report to the City Council at its Sept. 30 meeting.
With this proposal, the building could open in 2026.
