Penn-West Broadway Transit-Oriented Development Study

Penn Avenue North and West Broadway Avenues

In anticipation of a proposed Bus Rapid Transit line running on West Broadway Avenue serving North Minneapolis, Hennepin County's Department of Housing, Community Works and Transit hired Landform Engineering to study possible transit-oriented development within a quarter mile of one key proposed station area, Penn and West Broadway. The study, which incorporated public comment through three public meetings and monthly meetings of a steering committee, was completed in the summer of 2006.

These three documents are the final report of that study:

Penn Avenue and West Broadway Avenue Transit-Oriented Development Design Guidelines (pdf, 3.7 MB, 12 pages)

Penn Avenue and West Broadway Plan for Transit-Oriented Development handout (pdf, 11 MB, 2 pages)

Penn Avenue and West Broadway Plan for Transit-Oriented Development handout insert (pdf, 1.8 MB, 2 pages)

The City of Minneapolis Department of Community Planning and Economic Development is currently involved in two activities at this intersection: West Broadway Alive!, a corridor-wide revitalization plan, and offering the City-owned Delisi Building (southeast corner of Penn and West Broadway) for sale for redevelopment through an RFP process.
