Our victim/witness specialists guide you through the court process.

Our services

We support victims and witnesses in cases being prosecuted by our office by:

  • Explaining your rights and help you understand legal process
  • Updating you on the status of the case
  • Supporting your participation in the court process, including:
    • Going to the courtroom with you when there is a hearing
    • Preparing you to give testimony
    • Reading your victim impact statement if you don't want to do it yourself
  • Advocating for you by:
    • Making sure prosecutors consider your input
    • Being your liaison to criminal justice agencies, such as law enforcement and corrections
  • Help you file requests for restitution
  • Refer you to appropriate counseling and other support services
