Human trafficking education and resources

Human trafficking is a public health, safety and human rights issue.

Signs of human trafficking

Human trafficking is the sale of a person by another person for sexual services or forced labor.

Sex trafficking

Survivors of sex trafficking are often hiding in plain sight and may show signs of substance use disorder.

Other signs include:

  • Avoiding eye contact
  • Missing school or work regularly
  • Telling inconsistent or rehearsed stories
  • Dating someone much older
  • A history of running away or being homeless
  • Sexually inappropriate pictures on social media
  • Unusual tattoos, like a crown or the word "daddy"
  • New expensive clothes, money, jewelry, etc., without explanation

Sex trafficking thrives in silence. It's up to us to recognize the signs and act.
