The City of Minneapolis is finishing up renovations to City Hall that will improve accessibility and create updated workspaces, while preserving the historical integrity of the 130-year-old downtown mainstay. As the final work is being completed, City offices are starting to return to the historic building.

The Mayor’s Office moved back into City Hall on March 28. The office is now located in room 330, which is one part of the updated third floor. The construction items include updating HVAC and electrical systems for building and energy efficiency. The third floor also features a new formal media room and more natural light, as many additional windows were uncovered during the process.

City Council and committee meetings, as well as meetings of independent bodies that use the Council Chamber, will move back to City Hall over the next few months.

For meeting locations, check the agenda listed in the City’s Legislation Information Management System calendar.

A number of City departments are also moving back into City Hall. Up-to-date locations can be found in the contact section of each department’s web page.

The building was constructed between 1889 and 1905 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The renovation will be complete by the end of the year.
