Following the heavy, wet snowfall overnight, City of Minneapolis crews are out plowing arterial routes and will be treating hills and slippery spots as needed.
The City does not plan to declare a snow emergency today given the rain and warmer temperatures in the forecast. Normal parking rules apply.
Plow crews will be careful to not create snow ridges and ruts on streets that could freeze and block driveways and parked vehicles. Where residential streets are clear of parked vehicles they will plow as close to the curb as possible.
The City urges people to help neighbors who need assistance with snow shoveling. Take frequent breaks when shoveling due to the heavy snow. Also, clear snow from around storm drains and garbage carts.
Residents with concern about conditions on streets and sidewalks can call 311 or use the 311 smartphone app. Also, minimize travel if possible until road conditions improve.
