Nicollet Ave Bridge storm sewer improvements

We will repair sections of the storm sewer near the historic Nicollet Ave Bridge over Minnehaha Creek.

Key information

Dates

2025

Location

Nicollet Ave and Minnehaha Parkway

Tangletown

Project overview

We will replace 56 feet of old concrete storm sewer pipe with new 30-inch reinforced concrete pipe. We will also install a 6-foot diameter CDS hydrodynamic separator. This will trap debris, larger sediment, and pollutants before they flow to the creek.

The new storm sewer will:

  • Stop the need for bigger repairs later.
  • Be installed where the old sewer is now.
  • Improve water quality going to the creek.

Traffic impacts

Roadwork and utility work involves use of heavy equipment that will increase noise, vibration, and dust in work areas.

You might see:

  • Traffic lanes that narrow or are restricted during construction.
  • Parking lanes that will be closed during construction.
  • Pedestrian detours around work areas. These will be set up as needed to enable construction. Expect greater impacts at intersections where work is occurring.
