Proposed improvements

The Lyndale Ave N layout considers the following factors:
  • Roadway widths
  • Vehicle speeds and volumes
  • Surrounding uses
  • Vision Zero Policy
We can convert this segment of Lyndale Avenue North from a four-lane to a three-lane roadway.

Existing street features

Four-lane undivided street with underused on-street parking

Proposed street features

  • Three-lane cross section
  • One lane in each direction with a center turn lane
  • Buffered bike lanes added on both sides
This conversion from a four-lane to a three-lane roadway will help:
  • Lower vehicle speeds throughout the corridor
  • Create shorter pedestrian crossings at intersections
  • Provide dedicated left turn lanes at intersections. This should help reduce weaving and unexpected vehicle movements
This project requires us to remove off-peak parking spaces on Lyndale. Currently, this parking is generally underused.

Lyndale Ave N 14th to 18th
