North Douglas area ADA pedestrian ramp upgrades and resurfacing

This project is part of the ongoing street maintenance program.

ADA pedestrian ramp upgrades

The City will upgrade pedestrian ramps to current Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards. This work was completed in 2023.

Resurfacing

City staff will resurface the streets in this area in 2024. We replace the top layer of asphalt pavement to extend the life of a street. The new pavement should last at least 10 years.

CenterPoint Energy will be performing work ahead of the pavement resurfacing.

Schedule

  • Project work completed by the end of October 2024. 
  • Mill and overlay work begins the week of July 8th, 2024. 
  • Select curb and gutter replacement work began the week of May 28th, 2024.
  • Project staff held a virtual pre-public hearing on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024. 
  • Upgraded pedestrian ramps to current ADA standards in 2023.

 

 

Traffic impacts

Roads closed for mill and overlay work.  Roads open for overnight traffic.
