This project is part of the ongoing street maintenance program.

ADA pedestrian ramp upgrades

The City will upgrade pedestrian ramps to current Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards.  This work happens on pedestrian ramps on 50th St from Lyndale Ave S to 4th Ave S.  This work completed in 2023.

Resurfacing

City staff will resurface the streets on 50th Street in 2024.  We replace the top layer of asphalt pavement to extend the life of a street.  The new pavement should last at least 10 years.

CenterPoint Energy

Schedule

Project schedule:

• Anticipated road closures Wednesday, May 8th through Thursday, May 9th, 2024.   
• 50th St E between Nicollet and 4th Ave S will be milled and overlaid the week of May 6th, 2024. 
• Select curb and gutter replacement to begin the week of April 8th, 2024. 
• City upgraded pedestrian ramps to current ADA standards.  This work was completed in 2023.

Traffic impacts

50th St E between Nicollet Ave and 4th Ave S will be closed and detoured to 46th St E on May 8th and May 9th, 2024.  It will remain open to local traffic during the evening.   

50th St E closed intermittently, while unplanned repairs made to sewer infrastructure.
