The remaining portion of the 37th Ave NE reconstruction project, between Central Ave NE and Johnson St NE, is expected to begin on Monday, April 15, 2024, weather permitting.
The remaining major activities include:
- driveways
- sidewalks
- removal of old storm pipes
- installation of Green Storm Water Infrastructures (GSI) in the Boulevard area
- planting
- trees
There will be also some minor work between the Johnson and Stinson intersections, such as:
- sidewalk
- shared-use trail gap by the railroad tracks
Residents and businesses will have local access during construction. there will be some temporary disruptions.
Previous project activity
July 2018
Minneapolis Public Works worked with Columbia Heights, Saint Anthony and other project partner cities on a regional solicitation application.
December 2018
The project was added to City of Minneapolis 5-year Capital Improvement Program.
2020/2021
Project partners conducted more engagement and preliminary design on the project.
Spring 2022
Layout approved by the City Council on March 2022.
