29th Ave NE ADA pedestrian ramp upgrades and resurfacing

The City will upgrade pedestrian ramps to (ADA) standards in 2023. The City will replace the pavement surface in 2024.

Program overview

This project is part of the ongoing street maintenance program.

ADA pedestrian ramp upgrades

The City will upgrade pedestrian ramps to current Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards.  This work completed in 2023.

Resurfacing

City staff will resurface the streets in this area in 2024.  We replace the top layer of asphalt pavement to extend the life of a street.  The new pavement should last at least 10 years.

Schedule

  • Mill and overlay work to begin the week of June 24th, 2024. 
  • Bicycle and pedestrian improvements will follow after mill and overlay work. 
  • Select curb and gutter replacement work began the week of May 13th, 2024. 
  • Project staff held an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024. 

 

Traffic impacts

29th Ave NE will close and traffic detoured to 33rd Ave NE from June 24th to June 28th.  The road will remain open at Johnson St NE.  The road will be open to local traffic overnight.  After the road is resurfaced, imaging for bike and pedestrian improvements will undergo installation.
