Project overview

The City plans to improve the intersection of 15th Ave. and 5th St. SE. in southeast Minneapolis to make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Goals

We aim to:

  • Reduce vehicular travel speeds
  • Increase safety for all users
  • Build ADA compliant curb ramps
  • Replace/update existing traffic signal system

Traffic impacts

The intersection will be fully closed for vehicular traffic. Pedestrian and bikes will be provided a Temporary Pedestrian Access Route.

Traffic control signs for detours will be placed as needed.

Schedule

Construction work on 15th Ave SE and 5th St SE began in May 2024 and is expected to finish by the end of August 2024.
