Community Wellbeing

We support mental and physical health so all people feel safe, accepted and valued.

Why we do this work

Wellbeing is a combination of a person’s physical, mental, emotional and social health. When we have a strong sense of wellbeing, we can better handle challenges and thrive.

Factors that impact wellbeing

Many factors have had a negative impact on the wellbeing of people and communities in Minneapolis:

  • Historical trauma
  • Racial injustice
  • Systemic health inequities
  • The COVID-19 pandemic

Wellness at workplaces

Employees are an organization’s most important resource.

When employees are healthy, they have a better balance between work and personal life and:

  • Feel less stressed
  • Work more efficiently
  • Have better morale

Promoting healthy worksites

We help worksites in Minneapolis develop and maintain an environment that promotes the physical and mental wellbeing of their employees.

We offer guidance and tools to:

  • Develop programs that support healthy eating and drinking choices
  • Promote physical activity opportunities for employees
  • Establish lactation programs for breastfeeding staff
  • Reduce tobacco use among workers and offer help to quit
  • Improve employee wellness and build stronger social ties at the workplace
