We outline our fees and contracting requirements for brownfield grants.
Review these details before you begin your application.
Processing fee
You must pay the City to process your brownfield grant application.
Details
- The grant application processing fee is nonrefundable.
- We keep it whether or not your application is submitted or results in an award.
Payment due date and guidelines
- You must submit a grant application processing fee with your pre-application(s).
- The fee per project is:
- $750 for a single investigation or cleanup pre-application
- $1,125 for two pre-applications
- $1,500 for three pre-applications
- Make your check payable to the City of Minneapolis.
Grant administration fee
If you are awarded a grant, you need to pay the City a fee to administer the grant.
Details
The fee is typically seven percent of the amount of your grant award.
It is reduced to three percent if your project:
- Is rental housing and at least 20 percent of the units are affordable to and occupied by households with an income at or below 60 percent of AMI.
- Is a commercial or industrial project located within areas designated as "eligible priority" by the Great Streets Neighborhood Business District Program.
Payment due date and guidelines
- Payment is due when the funding agreement between the City and the developer is executed.
- For rental buildings that comply with affordable unit requirements, it is due when you close with the project’s primary lender.
- You cannot pay this fee from grant or City funds for your project.
Contracting requirements
City contracting requirements vary by project.
