Overview

Peoples Way refers to the property at 3744 Chicago Ave.

  • A gas station used to operate on the site
  • The City acquired the site in June 2023

The City and the community together will transform the property to:

  • Serve the needs of the community
  • Honor the memory of George Perry Floyd
  • Promote racial justice and healing

The City's role

The City will own and maintain the site in the short term.

The City is:   

  • Holding community events and visioning sessions in 2024 to discuss priorities
  • Preparing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to ask interested groups to apply to become the future community owner
  • Working towards permanent community ownership

The community's role

Community members may:

  • Continue to welcome everyone and use the space
  • Participate in community engagement opportunities
