How to use the dashboard

View and read the data

The data in this dashboard starts 01/01/2021.

To view data for prior years, view the legacy use of force dashboard.

Click the button to choose your view. You can choose the:

  • Summary view
  • Map view

For best results:

  • View the dashboard in full screen.
  • Use Chrome or Firefox as your browser.

Summary view

This view is broken into several areas:

  • Calls 
  • Police incidents
  • Use of force changes timeline
  • Notes

The Calls and Police Incidents graphs:

  • Shows the number of police interactions at the top.
  • Shows the percentages of the total where use of force was involved.

 

Map view

This view includes the ability to:

  • Use search filters to view specific data.
  • Use the map on the left to view data.
  • View the statistics on the right to view data.

To read the map view data:

  • Left side: Hover over the map to view the demographic information.
  • Right side:  View the statistics. Hover of the type of force to see more details.

Search the map data

Your search options on the map view include:

  • Year
  • Location

You can select a location for a:

  • Entire City of Minneapolis
  • Precinct
  • Ward
  • Neighborhood
