Meet the Minneapolis Public Health Body Art Inspection Team

Our Environmental Health team is made up of a group of skilled professionals. They work with businesses to make sure they follow safety rules in Minneapolis.

One of the main things they inspect is body art. This includes tattoos, piercings, and other body art procedures to make sure they meet the City’s safety rules. The team focuses on keeping artists and clients safe by:

  • Offering education, advice, and enforcement
  • Focusing on health and safety for everyone
  • Giving businesses resources and training
  • Keeping businesses up to date with new and updated rules through a body art business newsletter

Meet the Minneapolis public health team - Meghan Burian

Meghan Burian plays a key role in helping our community stay safe. She is a Senior Public Health Specialist with the Health Department’s Emergency Preparedness and Response team.

As a part of her job, Meghan:

  • Coordinates responses during city emergencies

  • Trains staff to be ready for the unexpected

Meghan has a strong background in public health and a passion for improving community wellbeing. She finds motivation in the lasting impact of her efforts. Her work reflects her belief: “What we do matters.”
