Large greenhouse gas reduction projects request for proposals

The City is now accepting proposals for large greenhouse gas reduction projects.

Overview

The City seeking proposals for projects reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Projects must be completed on properties in Minneapolis.
  • Work must be completed or substantially completed in 2025.

Qualifying projects

Examples of projects that qualify include but are not limited to:

  • District or shared energy systems 
  • Electrification or dual fuel gas-electric heating or cooling
  • Diesel and fuel oil use reduction
  • Solar or solar plus energy storage
  • Implementation or replacement of existing hydrogen or natural gas with cleaner hydrogen
  • Direct air and/or carbon capture and sequestration
  • Highest-tier energy efficiency building retrofits or recommissions 
  • New or innovative clean energy technology deployed to reduce building emissions

Funding

  • We will award two to five projects 
  • Awards will range from $175,000 to $500,000
  • Estimated contract dates: March 2025 - Dec. 31, 2025 (10 months)
