Free event food safety training

Seasonal and short-term vendors can learn about food safety for Minneapolis events. This free training is available in English and Spanish. It takes 30 minutes to complete.

Certified Food Protection Manager

Most food businesses must have a Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager.

What to know

The Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) must be someone present at the business regularly.

  • To become a Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manger, you must:
    • Take an approved class and pass the test
    • Within six months, submit the CFPM application form with your class certificate to Minnesota Department of Health 
  • CFPM training is available in several languages at multiple locations in the metro area
  • Only Minnesota Department of Health CFPM certificates are recognized in Minneapolis
  • Your certification lasts for three years
