Unmanned Aircraft Permit
An unmanned aircraft is defined in the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances as an aircraft operated without the possibility of direct human intervention from within or on the aircraft. They are often colloquially referred to as "drones."
The City of Minneapolis requires an unmanned aircraft permit to operate an unmanned aircraft in the designated special event zone during the following periods:
- January 15, 2018 to and including February 18, 2018 (Super Bowl 52)
- July 16, 2018 to and including July 24, 2018 (X Games)
- April 03, 2019 to and including April 10, 2019 (NCAA Final Four)
While operating an unmanned aircraft, you must have a copy of the permit in your possession.
Operating an unmanned aircraft in the special event zone without a permit may result in criminal and civil penalties.
