Minneapolis Police Department Honor Guard
The Honor Guard was established in 1992 to represent the MPD at local funeral services and services honoring fallen Peace Officers nationwide. The MPD Honor Guard is comprised of full-time sworn MPD police officers that come from a variety of city wide positions and volunteer to attend services of retired officer funeral services, active duty death funeral services, and in the line of duty death funeral services.
If requested by the current or former employee's family we will send a detail to your family member's funeral and interment services. Your family member dedicated their professional life to provide public safety to our community and will be recognized by the MPD Honor Guard for their noble service.
Family testimonial:
"From the dignity of the Honor Guard, I drew the strength I needed to place Charlie's urn in the grave and our niece Jennifer found the composure she needed to give the reading. My family and I reflect often on how much the Honor Guard helped us that difficult day. The Honor Guard gave us courage and made it possible for us to begin healing. We are very grateful to the MPD Honor Guard for their vital service to the fallen and their families." -Aileen Johnson
