The City of Minneapolis, Minneapolis Downtown Council and James Corner Field Operations will present updated design concepts for the Nicollet Mall redesign in a two-part event on May 14.

At noon, the public is invited to stop by the IDS Center for a celebration of the future of Nicollet Mall. James Corner from the design and architecture firm James Corner Field Operations will share a preview of the design. Images of the proposed design will also be available to preview inside the Crystal Court. In addition, folks will have a chance to meet the design team and City staff working on the project. Food vendors will be nearby and 7th and 8th grade students in Allison Rubin Forester's Dance as Art & Culture class at Barton Open School in Minneapolis will perform.

Then at 4:30 p.m., the public is also invited to visit the Hyatt Regency hotel for a complete design presentation along with a question-and-answer session.

This is the fourth public event held to gather feedback and share design concept progress with Minnesotans. The previous events were held in September, December and February.

Since the 1880s, Nicollet Mall has been a retail and business hub for Minneapolis. Over the years, the mall has been through two major renovations – 1968 and later in the 1980s. Today the space is home to events such as the Nicollet Mall Farmers Market, and is used by 130,000 Minnesotans daily.
