A higher percentage of people lived below the poverty level in Sheridan than citywide between 1979 and 1999. The trend lines for the neighborhood and Minneapolis mirrored each other with a peak in 1989. Sheridan's percentage of people 65 years and older living below the poverty level spiked in 1999 to double the citywide figure.
