The Cedar-Riverside neighborhood was younger in 2000 than it was in 1980. The population of children increased by 18 percent and adults increased 6 percent, while the senior population decreased 36 percent.

All ethnic groups except for whites increased in population between 1980 and 2000. White residents accounted for 82 percent of the population in 1980 and 41 percent in 2000. The ethnic group with the greatest increase was blacks, from 7 percent of the population in 1980 to 32 percent in 2000.
