Computer Tutor
Host
Receptionist

Computer Tutor

Purpose

Assist senior center participants in using Internet-connected computers at center. Help seniors surf the Internet, send e-mail and work on personal projects.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Must have a friendly manner, good communication skills and be sensitive to the needs of older adults. Must be patient and have ability to explain how to use the center computers and software. Must have prior computer experience and know how to use the Internet, how to send e-mail messages and how to use a standard Microsoft office software package.

Time Commitment

Hours are flexible. Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Supervision

Reports to UCare Skyway Senior Center director.

Benefits

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) benefits: up to $20 per month in travel expenses reimbursed and invitation to volunteer recognition events. Validated parking provided to volunteers who work a minimum of three (3) hours per week.

Host

Purpose

To welcome participants to the center, help them choose self-directed drop-in activities, make coffee and set out refreshments.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Must have a friendly and efficient manner, good people skills, and be sensitive to the needs of older adults. Prior food service experience helpful but not necessary.

Time Commitment

Must be available 2-4 hours, one day a week. Must arrange coverage with other host volunteers when you are unable to work your scheduled shift.

Supervision

Reports to UCare Skyway Senior Center director.

Receptionist

Purpose

To greet visitors, answer phones, transfer calls to staff, make phone calls, help participants register for programs and classes, keep daily attendance log, provide information about programs and services, other clerical work.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Must have a friendly and efficient manner. Possesses good phone and communication skills, and excellent organizational skills. Pays attention to detail and is sensitive to the needs of older adults. Prior office experience helpful but not necessary.

Time Commitment

Must be available 2-4 hours, one day a week. Must arrange coverage with other receptionist volunteers when you are unable to work your scheduled shift.

Supervision

Reports to UCare Skyway Senior Center director.
