“Don't Wait: Check the Date!"
NFPA has officially announced “Don't Wait: Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years” as the theme for Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15, 2016. The focus on smoke alarm replacement comes as the result of a recent survey conducted by NFPA, which showed that many people don't know how old their smoke alarms are or how often they need to be replaced.
MFD adds NARCAN to treat overdose patients
The Fire Department has added Narcan to its complement of medical services provided in Minneapolis. The drug can reverse an overdose from heroin and other opioid-based drugs and medications. The Fire Department administers a vaporized version of the treatment nasally. The cost of the drug treatments and a portion of the training costs are being reimbursed by the Minnesota Metropolitan Emergency Services Board.

How to Report Maltreatment of a Vulnerable Adult
Each county has designated a common entry point for reporting incidents of maltreatment of a vulnerable adult. For Hennepin county that number is 612-348-8526, TDD 612-348-6725. The report will be made, and the appropriate agency along with local law enforcement will review the report and take any action deemed necessary. You may also use this contact to report garbage houses//hoarders they will contact and work with housing inspectors for these issues as well.
