City Vision, Mission, Values & Goals

The Strategic and Racial Equity Action Plan identifies a set of priorities which the City will address in the next four years. The plan aligns the work from City leadership to departments and defines goals at all planning levels which can be objectively measured and help inform resource decisions. The plan sets a direction for the future of the City. It provides a common focus and gives direction to City leaders in the development of operational plans and activities.

Minneapolis is doing this to ensure implementation of racial equity goals into City initiatives. Our ultimate purpose is to improve outcomes for all residents through the deployment of racial equity standards in the way we work and the way we deliver services. We expect to achieve successful outcomes through effective development, execution and measurement the strategic and racial equity action plan. By focusing a small group of priorities, we aim to be more successful in our efforts to embed racial equity principles and strategies into goals, operations, programs, services and policies.

Building on previous goals and priorities, the Mayor and Council adopted the vision and values on April 6, 2019.
