December 30, 2015: The detailed design was recently completed and is consistent with the project layout developed with public input including that from the public meetings in late 2014. Construction is anticipated to start in May 2016 and continue into 2017. Further information regarding the construction timeline is being developed and will be shared at a public meeting held in the Spring of 2016 before construction starts.

April 25, 2016: Utility construction activities are anticipated to begin in early May with CenterPoint Energy's gas main improvements. For the first few weeks, we expect their work to be limited to spot excavations to isolate the main. Then, CenterPoint Energy crews will begin the detour to 50th Street, probably in late May or early June so they can begin the actual gas main replacement work.

West 54th Street roadway reconstruction for 2016 will be between Lyndale Avenue South and Humboldt Avenue South and will begin later in the summer, after utilities have gotten a head-start. However, utility work will span the entire length of the job in 2016. Work will be suspended for the winter of 2016/2017 at which time pavements will be "buttoned-up" and open to traffic. Work will resume in the spring of 2017 and is anticipated to continue for much of the summer of 2017.

This schedule information is a preliminary estimate and is subject to change. The City of Minneapolis will also be holding a public preconstruction meeting later this spring to provide more information.
